hi, is there anybody that can help searched around on here finding similar faults but not the same my 2.0i 1995 just cut out on my wife went to see what was wrong and it started drove it home then it wouldnt start again my mate whos works at a garage brought the engine management reader round and it wont let him read the ecu i changed the crank sensor checked the coil packs they are fine and no joy theres no spark i have had the car for 5 years without a problem always serviced does anybody have any idea please help darren

Checked the battery?

 

Possibly one of the relays....I would have said relay 30 (fuel pump relay) but you say theres no spark.....

Immobiliser?

 

 

Thanks for the replies I have checked all of the above but someone suggested I get my key tested, as the immobiliser is in the key? I am going to get a new key and hopefully this is the problem I'll let you know if it works (fingers crossed)

new key would have to be programmed by 2 existing good keys or dealer/locksmith if you have vag-com it would show faut "engine start blocked by imobiliser" if it does then perhaps its an imobiliser fault cant see both keys failing at same time (you have two keys and tryed both ?) when key in and turned on does door led flash rapidly ?

It still sounds like a dodgy relay.

 

Try starting it and and the same time tap the relay ( can't remember if its 27 or 30 ).

 

Most likely the relay is sticking or corroded.

ok checked key at locksmiths it working also removed covers of relays 1 by 1 and they all click when ignition is turned my friend who plug his computer tryed 2 types of software and it wont let you read the ecu but it will read every other system checked the computor on my neighbours galaxy which is the same and it read everything first time has anybody any idea what this could mean checked ecu by removing cover carefully and this also clicks when ignition turned on iam baffled and so is my mate as hes never seen this fault before, does anybody also know if i get the car towed to my ford dealer will they tell me the fault before charging me a fortune thanks to everyone that has taken time to reply so far

Im afraid ford will charge you an arm and a leg plus the souls of any kids you have to get it diagnosed.

 

And unless they are pretty good, they dont always get it right when trying to repair / diagnose.

I have that problem with door led flashing rapidly. Can any one help please? Thanks

Its still not running I have had numerous mechanics & auto electricians look at it they cant find the problem, I sent my ecu off to be tested and its working perfectly. The immobiliser has also been tested and no faults there. I am stuck at what else to try does anyone else have any ideas what it could be? I am at the end of my tether now and debating weather to just scrap the damn thing. :angry2:

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WHEN THE KEY WAS INSERTED ALL THE USAUL LIGHTS ETC CAME ON BUT NOTHING ELSE NO TURNING OVER OF THE ENGINE OR NOTHING ELSE, CALLED OUT BREKDOWN SERVICE, GUY CAME ARMED WITH HAMMER AND WHILST I HAD THE KEY TURNED IN THE IGNITION HE TAPPED THE STARTER MOTOR AND IT BURST INTO LIFE, IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE SINCE HE CAME OUT TO THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY AT LEAST TO GET THE ENGINE GOING AGAIN TO ALLOW FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUT

Thanks for the reply My engine tries to turn over theres just no spark I am now going through the process of testing ALL the wires to the ecu, a long and tiring job as there are so many but if it works its worth it. :P

[first i would like to say a big THANKSto everyone that helped me on here with my galaxy

i would like to say i fixed the damn thing it was a wire going to the back of the fuse bax it had a break

replaced it and hey presto it started thank god its took a month but im back on the road i will not which wire it was and add it on here thanks darren

Hi all

 

I have same kind of problem with my 2.3 Galaxy -98. I used to have some problems earlier. When I turned power on red LED on door first light up for few seconds and then started to flash fast. When I tried again one or more time, LED turned of normally and I was able to start my car. Could this also be relay 30 or is it only, when led does not flash? Any other ideas? I'm in countryside and I'd need my car next Monday. I'm not able buy any spare parts before it. Is there any way to get relay back to life, or bypass it?

iv got the same problem on my 1998 2.3 galaxy it turns over most things still work but i cant read the ecu but itl let it read other thing on the diognostic allso my immobliser light is flashing on the drivers door like mad,im definatly not paying ford id rather try everything one by one
