cowboyasterix Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 and A/C not working, no gas in. I don` t know compressor is working? I made appointment for tomorrow at Bristol Street Motors Gloucester for recharge A/C . Told me 65 pounds. But later I was at Kwik Fit, it`s 45 pounds, but if compressor not working or there is aleek, they not will charge me at all. I thunk there may be a leak. It`s not old car (2003), so A/C should working. Where should I go? I don`t know Bristol Strret. M. will charge me, even if is a leak? I didn`t ask, maybe you know? Cheers Quote
seatkid Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Why not take it back to where you bought it and complain. Shalaxy a/c faults are depressingly common and can be suicidly expensive to fix. I suspect the vendor knew of the problem and got it "fixed" (topped up) the week before he sold it. Quote
jkspoff Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) Just bought a car from auction (see previous post) and the first thing I checked before bidding was that the A/C panel didn't flash on start up and it blew icy cold air. I'm afraid to say that if the gas has leaked out it will more than likely need a new compressor, or condensor. As many as 1 in 3 Galaxys etc have this recurrent fault, until the last of the MkIIs (04 onwards) where they made the A/C slightly more reliable with minor modifications. Take it back to the dealer with your 30 days warranty and insist on it fixing, unless you bought it privately, in which case buy a third party warranty and claim after 14 days for it fixing. The Kwik Fit offer is a good way of testing it though. Edited May 6, 2008 by jkspoff Quote
gregers Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 i think your find its 28 days under the sale of goods act,if its a dealer let them know asap and tell them you will be getting advice on the matter,if its a private sale then you could do what has been suggested. Quote
cowboyasterix Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 I bought it from private person(from home), but he is a trade-I have invoice. It was good bargain 4400 for 2003year. In the day when I bought this car was very cold, seller said, that it`s too cold to run A/C. But i suspected that it wasn`t worked. Even heated windscreen is not heated, normal windscreen instead of heated  So, tomorrow I am going to Kwik Fit to regas, because 99% I think, that compressor gone, or radiator or any pipe have big leek. But, when I pressed today ball in the nozzle to recharge A/C it made slightly "tsssssst". Quote
cowboyasterix Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 Hi. I just come back from Kwik Fit. Regassed A/C, but didn`t start, so I nothing paid for it. But, I back home, switched on the A/C and clutch start slightly slide. Then I switched off, because the belt started to stink. Now is +6.5`C on vents, but compressor working hard. Do you think it will be ok? Quote
gregers Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 if the belt is starting to stink, then i would think that the compressor has seized??????. Quote
