mumof4 Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 Dicky Switch ! Are you thinking nice thoughts when you press it...... :( Nope.i wasnt, vwey bad angry thoughts that contained a lot of swear words not allowed to repeat on here :) anyway, an update. ive taken the door card back off as i was having probs with the locking, soon as i turned the key to lock, it would lock, but turning the key to position to take out, the buggers would unlock. the one time i got it to lock and stay locked, i couldnt unlock the bloody thing!, had to get in through the boot to unlock passenger door to get in. soooo... once i got all doors open, i took door card off, i hadnt put it back on properly i think , as once i took it off, the car would lock!!.i havent checked the windows yet, as it was tea time for the brats. will check in the morning and try and put the door card back on and have a locking, window opening and closeing car! now...the leds dont work, and i dont know if my car is alarmed, or even if it has an alarm. Is there supposed to be summit under the passenger seat? gregers Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 iirc in my old mk1 there was a box with 2no black connectors coming out of the control box(central locking)i was told if theres 3 then it has an alarm.if there isnt a box there then its either been moved somewhere else or moved to the previous owners garage.coz this is the item that gets fubared when wet. big_kev Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I think Gregers is right on this one, pet. Someone has had your central locking control unit away. Probably got very wet hence the rusty connections. I am sure these are available at a scrappy's. p.s. go in your mates car to the scrappy's.....they might get confused otherwise :( Quote
mumof4 Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 soo..am i to understand, that my car should have central locking, i.e. a key that you press and it all unlocks? spoke to JB who took me to collect the car, and he said the guy said there was a locking unit under the passenger seat but that it got wet, and that we both said, rear washer pipe. soooooooooooooooooo.......i am ASSUMEING that my car has no alarm, going by what gregers said, and that will explain why my LED lights in the doors do not work. gregers Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 mmmm yep,my old glx didny have an alarm BUT it did have central locking. Quote
big_kev Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 soo..am i to understand, that my car should have central locking, i.e. a key that you press and it all unlocks? Not necessarily ! This would be remote locking.. It should however centrally lock either via using the key in the lock or by pushing in the locking lever in the door. soooooooooooooooooo.......i am ASSUMEING that my car has no alarm Don't worry chuck, no one will nick it... ;) Quote
