Galaxy Fuel Injection Pump

hi. my 1997 1.9 tdi gal was chugging at idle and low speed?

the glow plug was flashing.

i had the codes read which resulted in 1) maf 2) fuel injection pump.

i changed the maf and seems to have more power, but the other problems are still there (seems to be missing?)

had the codes read again and just one fault now the fuel injection pump?

had the fuel filter changed, but no joy.

there seems to be a build up of back pressure in the air box (indicating that the timing is out?)

can it be the timing or what else could it be which results in the reading being fuel injection pump (are these a common problem to go?)

i dont want to spend a lot buying the pump if it isnt this?

any ideas????????

hi just been out in car and it seems to not go above 70/75 mph?

it seems to be more juddering at idle also when traveling at low speeds?

does any1 have any clues?

please help?

just sold a focus diesel due to a suspected (99% sure) faulty fuel pump. the symptoms were rough running, lots of smoke and increased engine noise. had to sell the car as it wasn't financially viable to go any further as i was quoted
