revs Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Any help please... I have a MK2 V6 that is repeated bringing on the engine managment light. I have a code reader and have been clearing the 0116 error code when it occurs for over a year but it has become a daily task recently which is apparently an error in the temperature circuit.. In the last couple of days this has changer to an 0118 which is a high level input to temprature circuit. Whenever its about to play up the temprature gauge stops working and if you stop the car the engine seems to think its cold and doesn't like starting again. I have been told the most likely cause is the temprature sender but im gonna guess this aint a simple old fashioned bolt in the side of the engine!! Any advice or help as to the location of the sender would be appreciated. The car has never overheated and doesn't loose water so i dont think there is anything actually wrong with the temperature. insider Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 The sensor's normally in the thermostat housing. Quote
revs Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 The thermostat and temprature sensor in the housing but i was lead to believe (but could be wrong) that there was also a sender bolted somewhere which relayed the information onto the ecu. Quote
insider Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 That'll probably be the cylinder head temperature sensor - screwed into the head(s) somewhere. Quote
