Stevoo Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Get gearbox specialist to replace the oil, its not a job for any garage as you need to build up the pressure to drain the box.Im sure fresh oil will fix it. Quote
CM2007 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Not touching the gearbox for 4 years is almost as bad as not servicing the engine! Get the fluid replaced then keep on top of it, checking levels regularly. Mike Quote
Mauser Posted April 18, 2008 Author Report Posted April 18, 2008 I only do about 3,000 a year tops; so really only down 12k since buying her, anyway today she stuck in 4th and struggled to pull away from stationary :P. Is changing the fluid difficult ?, I'm no mug by any means but won't bother if you need special equipment etc. Quote
Stevoo Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Its not a simple case of drain it and refill it. It has some weird fill up point, and you have to build the pressure up in gearbox before you can drain it.if you put slightly too much or too little it will blow your box up, or contaminate it and will end up not lasting long.best pay a speciallist so if u get any issues through it back to them. Mauser Posted April 21, 2008 Author Report Posted April 21, 2008 "Its not a simple case of drain it and refill it"Looking at the TIS CD it is as simple as that, maybe you should read it before posting that it is a complicated procedure; you wouldn't want to put people of the job now would you?. All you need to do is remove belly pan, undo the drain plug allen key and drain, then refill with 3 litres of fluid. Check the level with the overflow plug removed. No special tools needed @ all, unless you want to check the fluid temperature which I don't. Looks like a little job for the weekend, lets hope it fixes the problem. Quote
