Hello :o

VW (2000) Sharan 1.9tdi, new face lift model

I am trying to get a 12v supply for my drop down LCD monitor, I am going to feed the power through a dashboard switch, got from Halfords. I originally wanted to take the power feed from behind the front cig-lighter. On inspection that dosn't look that easy to get at... would anyone know on how to get to the rear of cig-lighter or is it easier to go through the bulkhead, direct to the battery? anyone know of where to look so as to feed the cable through?

:o

Hoping you guys can help

through the bulkhead is a lot of work, also you need extra linefuse and you have to make connections to the battery. If you remove the radio and tray you should get access to the wires from the cigarette lighter. Put two wire clamps (Halfords) on these wires.

Don't slate scotchloks - they aren't that bad. Not long after they became popular, one of the motoring mags (since deceased) did a test on different wiring joints, and the scotchloks came out pretty well at the top of the list. I've used them before for fitting radios, boot lights etc and rear fog lamps on older vehicles and never had a problem. Don't think I'd use them in high-power applications though.

Sorry for not replying earlier, many thanks for your replies. This will probably sound stupid, but how the hell does the radio come out? It dosn,t have a removable facia and has none of those four hole thingy-mugingy to slide the radio out..if you know what I mean. If I can get the radio out hopefully as mentioned by Charles I can get to the wires to the cig lighter, otherwise I shall look for the gromit as Andy says.
