freers Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Hi all, thanks Dave, SWMBO is dead set on an alhambra/sharan/galaxy having driven a (rubbish) alhambra for the last few months. Any idea what those problems cost to sort out?? We have decided to invest a tidy sum into a (hopefully) reliable motor - hopefully we'll be lucky!! I guess that all cars have their inherent problems - so they are all a gamble, I must stop being such a worrier! Whatever we buy Ford or VAG i think this site is cracking and will continue to read avidly and post whenever i can!!! Quote
freers Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Well we bought it, 03 gal ghia tdi 115, lots of gadgets and starts and runs like new, only done 31k with fsh and the guy I bought it off put 12 months mot, recent service, a cambelt change and put the new tyres from my bammer on free of charge. Paid top dollar ( Quote
mumof4 Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Congratulations, hope you have some trouble free motoring in front of yer. Quote
Mistryman Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Hi My galaxy has been in the ford garage for the last 2 days. I had problems starting it on Monday morning. RAc man said it was a relay problem. Ford mechanics disagreed and said it was the key and need re programming. Today, worryingly, when i called they said they had to call ford technical hotline for help? Apparently it was a relay problem? More worryingly they can't get the part/ They promised to call me tomorrow to give me a update, but i guess it will me calling them? :23: mistryman Quote
big_kev Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 More worryingly they can't get the part Why ?....is the local Volkswagen dealer not open ! Tell them to stop mucking you about and get one from VW...probably cheaper as well. Quote
Audiman Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Mistryman, You should know better...... Fraud is full of 17 year olds who don't know their head from their toes.Audi and VW are no better - These days it's all about maximising profit. Quote
Mistryman Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Got a call today from the garage to say they tried the relay and it did not work? They say they have now got a immobiliser module which they will test and fit tomorrow. They have had my car for 3 days now?? I wonder how much this going to cost me?Can any one tell me what a relay, reprogramming keys , immobiliser module will cost from the fraud squad. :23: Mistryman Quote
big_kev Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Can any one tell me what a relay, reprogramming keys , immobiliser module will cost from the fraud squad. A hellava lot ....especially for the immobiliser module ( which isn't faulty, the RAC guy would have noticed that straight away.....neither are the keys faulty ).Ah the joys of "exchange parts" you don't get the old ones back to prove there was never anything wrong with them. Probably is the relay.....bet you fords changed the wrong one ! Quote
Audiman Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I wouldn't pay for reprogramming the key, relay, immobiliser etc etc. These young lads at Fraud don't know what the're doing - you're going to end up paying for all their "swaps" to try and fix the fault. When they diagnose the fault only pay for that item ...... you may have to call in the Fraud squad. Quote
mumof4 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I ALWAYS ask for the old parts back, and i make it quite clear that i want them, when i get them back, i ask for the fault on that part to be pointed out to me. They have no reason NOT to give you the old parts back, if i were you, id get that car out of the ford garage and have an auto diagnostic done on it. You can source the parts yourself, and with help on here, fit em yourself. Dont authorise any more work on it, Ford are crap with repairing galaxys, they just keep replaceing what they think is wrong, and charge you. its a VW engine, ( depending what model u have as i aint looked to see if its in yer profile), u could try a VW garage, as they can be more forthcoming with help. But Fords? Nope. be the last place i took mine to.Im sure they train their monkeys just to replace everything till it gets running again. Quote
