Guest tonyl Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 I have a 98 Galaxy Petrol (2.3) and the 12V auxiliary sockets in the rear stopped working recently when I had an inverter plugged into one of them. No problem, I thought, just a blown fuse. It probably is, but I can't find the so & so. Nothing else seems to be affected and there doesn't seem to be a fuse blown in the normal fuse panel near the driver's right knee. My Haines manual mentions (and even has a picture of) an auxiliary fuse box somewhere near the battery but it isn't there on my car. So I have 2 questions: Where are the 2 12v sockets fused? If it's the Auxiliary Fusebox, where have they hidden it? Thanks for any answers Even if I don't get an answer, this problem helped me find this forum - every cloud has a silver lining! Tonyl Quote

Guest tonyl Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Thanks for the pointer. I had found it, once I realised my original question was probably posted in the wrong forum. I have no K160 relay and the fusebox area doesn't match the description there. I've just spent a happy hour investigating until it got too dark. The relays are behind what I think is the control module and are a blighter to reach in their own right. I ended up with the whole of the lower fascia off. There are 3 very large fuses on the bottom layer of the two relay layers - all are OK. Interestingly, my cigarette lighter is working OK - it's just the power sockets in the boot which have given up the ghost. Should I be looking elsewhere? TonyL Quote
Guest nimrod Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 remember reading somewhere on here about fuses under the drivers or passenger seats Quote
Guest tonyl Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Thanks for your help. It'll have to wait until next weekend but I'll have a look then. Cheers Quote
Guest Turbo Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Oddly, just one of my 12v sockets work in the back, but when I swap the connections over at the back of the panel, the one that wasn`t working, works and the one that was working doesn`t, so unless they are fused seperatly or into seperate relays ( I doubt very much ) I must have a break in the wires. I`ll have a look this week one day. Quote
Jim Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Oddly, just one of my 12v sockets work in the back, but when I swap the connections over at the back of the panel, the one that wasn`t working, works and the one that was working doesn`t, so unless they are fused seperatly or into seperate relays ( I doubt very much ) I must have a break in the wires. I`ll have a look this week one day. They are fused separately on mine. Fuses 8 & 10, rated at 15A. Check fuses before looking for a broken wire. Also, on mine, noticed fuse 1 was missing, along with some others. However, it says fuse 1 is for "Engine management (2.8 l CD-V6 24V engines and turbo diesel engines). As mine is a 115 TDi, I thought I should have had one of these? Quote
Guest Turbo Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Cheers Jim, I`ll check them. I would`ve thought you should have a fuse in no. 1 too......Electrics are not really a strong point with me but it does seem odd that there wasn`t one in there. Quote
Guest Turbo Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Well Ive had a look Jim and it was a blown fuse under the drivers seat. Thanks for your help. I now have two 12v sockets that work. Quote
