Must say, am pretty impressed!!

Top trim was taken off, the screen had been replaced before and it really was a bodge job.The top trim was on upside down and a silicone sealant used under it which was put on in patches, hence why the screen leaked and rust under the glass.

Previously when it had been replaced, the A pillar had been lifted for some reason and a load of cr@p out inside to try and keep it in place..

My friendly AutoGlass techy :P Explained every step he took, and what he was doing and why.

Here he is, just finishing off.

I have to say, i am very happy with the job.The glass used is slightly darker than the one that was on it, but thats ok as i prefer it.It has to stay sat for an hour, no car washes for 24 hours and guarenteed for as long as i have the car.

All in all, it cost me 70 quid excess.better than the 200 odd quid if i was paying myself!

Not me...the guy said if i pulled the catch hed bounce on it, and up it popped.

Something to do with a spring?

So to get it open, its a two man job so to speak., one to pull and one to bounce on the front.

Its amazing what pops into your head when reading these posts.

Was speaking to a nursing friend last week and they had a guy taken into casualty with a vibrating item :D stuck up where the sun don't shine. :16: They had to operate on him to remove it and all he was concerned about was getting the offending item back :16:

Now what that has to do with windscreen replacements I have no idea

but it made me laugh quite a bit when she told me

Your not openly admitting to carrying out an insurance fraud are you?

I was under the impression that the cover was for accidental damage to the screen whilst the car was under your ownership, whereas your screen was damaged when you bought the car.

Im not 100% on this mind (and cant be arsed to look for my policy booklet!) but if I am correct then you might have to use your admin priveledges to make this thread dissapear.

Agreed. Can't be too careful these day with various agencies and such "browsing" auto forums. I know they do here and would assume they do over there too???

Anyways. Nice to see a quality job.

sprry but you are wrong tiny, i have not committed fraud at all, the screen was damaged after i got it.

If you notice the ebay add, there was only one crack, and i also put on this forum after i viewed the car that there was only one, monday morning i went out to the car and there was a crack on the right hand side in my line of sight about 3 inches long.

I did tell my insurance that the screen had a crack when i bought it but that another had appeared, they were fine with that.

the sentance you quoted was taken out of context, the guy from autoglass told me how much it cost for a new one, my insurance company pays 134 quid, i paid 70 quid.

My car is parked on the side of a main road, lorries, etcc thunder past all the time.

I have nothing to hide, nor will i remove this thread, my insurance company knew about the crack in the middle. It was the crack in my line of sight that appeared monday, and for that the previous owner can testify that it wasnt there when i bought it, also can the friend that came with me when i went to view and pick up the car.

you have totally misquoted me.So the answer is no, i am NOT openly admitting to carrying out fraud as i have NOT committed fraud!!!, I have never had to claim for anything on my insurance, Not once, never in the 2 years i have held a full licence or the years previous on a provisional.

Amazes me how people can't be arsed to look at a policy but can be arsed to post on here suggesting someone might be committing fraud and furthermore suggest abuse of admin rights. I think this said person owes mumof4 a serious apology.

cant quite see the 'abuse of admin rights' bit though

so if I hide the thread it would be abuse of my privileges (not that I am going to)

I have not committed fraud. and what angers me, is that anyone could think that i could do such a thing, if i was going to commit fraud, had committed fraud, would i be so bloody stupid as to post it on a forum??, i may not have much, but i would never committ fraud.I have 4 kids to look after and the consequences of fraud would be catastrophic for me and my kids.

there is nothing to hide here.

Nik, this forum is over to you till i damn well calm down.

Glad to hear it went well. I assume nothing.

I think even if you did remove the thread, say if you thought "Uh oh", that it would NOT be an abuse of admin. Just my opinion but as someone who runs his own forum, if one of my members even posted something they later regretted, for ANY reason, and asked me to remove it, I would. I have actually, when a member accidentally mentioned his place of employment and though he had nothing to hide wasn't comfortable with that info. Another member had quoted that post as the first member had hired the second for employment.

I was only too happy to "censor" the place of employment as I can understand sometimes people don't want their personal info "out there". So, in general, I think removing a thread isn't abuse as even these days if you do something legitimately, you can never be too careful who's snooping or looking to "stir up trouble".

Anyways. Enough said. I'm still quite impressed by the quality of the work and don;t worry, just enjoy your Galaxy!

If anything has been taken "out of context" it is my post which was simply pointing out that it may not be advisable to post such things without clarifying that the screen was damaged AFTER the purchase.

Especially because of the fact that it has already been mentioned that the car had a damaged screen when purchased.

Perhaps it would have been sensible to state why you had your screen replaced, when everyone that pays any attention to this forum would be aware of the fact the screen was already damaged.

MO4 there is no way I took your quote out of context, you wrote it and I copied exactly what was written, there can be no confusion about that fact. Anybody, well intentioned OR OTHERWISE reading through your posts on this car, could of very easily been put under the impression that something untoward was going on. I was simply making you aware of this fact. It would be naive to believe that everyone who reads this forum does so for the common good and without malice.

There was NO ACCUSATION, that is why the first line of my post was written as a question.

My post was intended to be helpful, and at NO POINT did I say that anyone was abusing their admin rights, and deleting a thread or post is not abuse, it has been done before. SO GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT JOHN.

I owe NOBODY an apology, if I did i would be the first to admit it.
