I am about to order a new Galaxy as a company car. Ford have been excellent with loan vehicles (2), and in my opinion, this is the best driving, best built and most refined full sized 7 seat MPV available today.

The loan vehicles I had both had the old Satnav system. I see from the new brochure/price list there is a new touch screen version. Some questions:

1. What type of display does it give when driving? Is it a top down map view, or a more 'driver oriented' 3d type view, a la Tomtom etc?

2. How does it handle traffic reports? From what I saw of the old system, you could look up the traffic incident reports, but it did not seem to integrate with the planned route

3. On the one or two screen shots I have seen, there seems to be some sort of cursor on the screen?

4. Any general comments on the system? I am used to a Tomtom One XL - excellent functionality, inc traffic reports via RDS-TMC, but wires everywhere, and small screen - is it worth the extra co car tax on the

Both/either - also always north or driving direction by tapping icons on the map screen

TMC - Not sure how good as I haven't been stuck or diverted yet but it does state it is calculating taking traffic reports into account IF THERE ARE ANY EN ROUTE otherwise it just says it's calculating

3. On the one or two screen shots I have seen, there seems to be some sort of cursor on the screen?

One of the options is to select a location from the map and there are 8 arrows to move the map. I can't think of any cursor and it is NOT mouse controlled

I have the manual but it does not show you how to take the DVD map disk out but tells you to take it to a Ford dealership who will do it in minutes for free...

It's too bright at night and if you turn it down you turn down all the button lights too.
The screen brightness can be adjusted in day and night mode

Accessed via Menu - Display

My system will not let me switch to 3D like the manual says

Mine does

Accessed via Menu - Map

When I go to Menu - Map the option is missing and not there like in the manual. Just have to wait for the update disk ....
