Immobiliser/starter Issue

hi, first post so bear with me

 

I have read several posts on the forums but none seem to address exactly what I see and hear ?

 

I have a 2.3 2000 Galaxy and have recently developed a problem starting

 

Turn the key and there is a clicking in the ignition switch followed by a beep usually 2-3 times

Also the immobiliser light on the door goes crazy and stays flashing fo a couple of minutes before going out

 

Probably 8 in 10 the car starts normally but 2 in 10 it doesnt and needs 4 or 5 goes to eventually get it goin

 

I have already forked out 200 GBP for a new starter

do you have many keys on the ring - some peeps have reported that they got interference with many keys on the ring if you have a second key try that

Hi Tuborg ,

 

I have a Galaxy 2.0 from 2002 with exactly the same problem!!! I already posted this problem and got several options :

- Use the spare key to see if it's a key problem -> using the spare key does not help so no key problem or interference (only a total of 2 keys tied together..)

- Relais problem (see previous post car starter problems) -> pressed the relais of the immobiliser a bit -> still waiting for results...

 

So still no real solution found but it's nice to know I'm not alone ... :lol:

Does the engine tun over but not start or do you get just a click?

Also are the vehicles auto or manual?
