Hi guys - just discovered this site after weeks of kicking my VR6 - the brake light dash warning light was on permantley and could not work out why ? - not only did I discover why ... from this site ... but also how to replace the switch over & now working brake lights !

So to all those guys who posted comments about the brake switch - thanxs !!!

Another question - reading the site ... I realise that changing the HT leads and spark plugs is not so easy as I thought - Is it right I need a special tool to remove the HT leads and are the Spark Plugs simply removed with a "normal" long reach spark plug tool ? If I need a HT removal tool - any ideas where I can get one ?

Many thanks

Rob

Try your local motor factors for a possible cheaper tool. ISTR that some early Sharans had the tool fixed somewhere under the bonnet - near one of the hinges? May be worth a trip to a scrappies?

Many thanks for the info - pricey but nothing like having the right tool for the job !

Do you need to use this to replace the leads as well ?

Rob

Yes if you look at the plug leads they have tags that fit into the slots on the tool, I have a link to site that describes how to make your tool from copper pipe!

Ivors correct that the tool should be under the bonnet IIRC it should be clipped to the bonnet support stay?

I did the rounds of the motor factors when i was looking for the tool but had no joy in finding one till i was pointed in the direction of the snap on one! as you say its dear but its better than than replaceing the leads every time you try to remove them by pulling on the lead and leaveing the cap still attached to the plug down in the depth of the engine! :o

Many thanks guys - I saw a comment somewhere about one being clipped to bonnet stay - but no such luck on mine .. will try the main dealers first then snap on I think - making one sounds cheaper but no doubt my skill won't be up to it - better pay the price I think :o Thanks again guys ...
