hello little problem with my 99 tdi galaxy , the glow light on the dash is flashing , it sometimes does this if turn car off and back on quicly , which i did , but stops after car turned off for 10 or so minutes , this time hasnt cleared , when i bought the car it flashed and turned out that brake lights werent working new fuse problem gone , brake lights are working , tottally at a loss any help gratefully accepted thank you

thank you , changed the brake light switch last year didnt know there was another one

maybe single switch with 2 poles?? there is a post on here dave-g ithink talking about a bad batch of these.

 

Does car go into limp home mode when it happens ?

i have a 2001 115 tdi that drve with no throttle the other day turned of and back on it was perfect you think same prob ?

No that would have been caused by one of several other issues, if it comes back then the ECU can be interrogated to find out why. If not, don't worry, it was most likely just a dodgy reading.

I had hell with mine, 2001 TDI, started out the same, read the forums to check the Brake switch bought a replacement, fitted no better. then nothing on the tailgate worked.

Check the wiring loom OSR but remove the boot totally, then pull the harness out as much as you can. Harness is about 12 wires more than half of mine were exposed or broken. Wife never told me the rear wiper did't work either.

All rewired now but what a pain in the arse anyhow have a spare switch now
