jkspoff Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Not been on here for a while, as the Galaxy was traded due to a few major faults, it became too costly and unreliable. Its great to see the sites doing well, and I am thoroughly enjoying my ST220 now. Although there are times when the whole family is out that I miss the cavernous space that the Galaxy had, especially on those family picnics with the swivel front seats. I may well be back in the market for one after I've thrashed around the UK in this motor, as its a tad expensive to run ! But with the low mileage that I do its not too bad, 300 miles to a tank of fuel, not bad for a car that does 0-60 in 6.8 secs, 152mph, 3 litre V6, 223bhp, anyway see you all around the place. Quote
gregers Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 hi jkspoff, back in the market for another 1 eh  maybe by next year m8 when the robbing barstuwards reach into your pocket for the major increase in road fund licence. Quote
jkspoff Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 Yep, maybe, the gas guzzlers are been hit hard. However I get enough enjoyment out of it to pay the premium, as will most other people who choose to buy these type of cars, so I'm not too sure what the government are hoping to achieve. Its hardly a deciding factor when it comes to spending thousands on a car, and thousands on fuel. So maybe my next car will be my dream machine, a BMW M5 touring ! Quote
searcher Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Hmm always fancied a ST220 estate. Nice motor. Quote
Smilge Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Welcome back Jk ...... 300 miles!!!!????? Should have had the diesel matey .... I get nearly twice that and with 0 - 60 in just under 8 seconds so not much difference there. I'm waiting and saving for the Dreamscience diesel Euro 4 remap for mine so saving at the moment and then they'll be an even bigger grin on my face when I drive it. Quote
jkspoff Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) I do like the 2.2 diesel ST and I've test driven one, but the ST220 is far superior and quicker through the mid ranges and acceleration, I've had mine properly timed to 60mph in 6.7secs, the refinement through the rev range is staggering, and the engine noise from the V6 is soooo sweet ! I would always buy the petrol variant over the diesel, however I do admit that the diesels are catching up, my annual mileage is very low, so the petrol is almost as economical for me anyway. Have you checked out the ST site too ? Edited March 19, 2008 by jkspoff Quote
Smilge Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 No I haven't checked the site out yet ....... I would have loved the 220 but wouldn't have been able to tow the van with it, not that I have with mine yet as I still have a tow bar to fit. I was really surprised at how well they corner having had an older 2 litre before the Galaxy. So what do you tow your van with now ...... has the estate still got the twin exhausts? Quote
jkspoff Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 The carvan has gone now, we tried it as a family for one season, and decided it wasn't for us, a costly exercise to say the least, but we might well have another bash in the future, hence the purchase of a non-towing ST220. It does have the twin stainless steel exhausts and lots of other standard ST extras, including the glorious heated seats, good for an aching back and cold mornings. I tend to find myself tootling around the place knowing that I can go really fast if I want, a strange feeling really, without actually doing it........love it to bits.......but I liked the Gal a lot. searcher Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Dont keep going on about STs.Im NOT jelous. Not sure which i would choose. The miles i do and all the school runs i spose it would have to be the derv but i do love the sound of the petrol. Many years ago i had a MK1 Mondeo with the 2.5 V6 with an induction kit fitted and it sounded the dogs danglers.
