New Keys

Hi all

ive just bought a new ford blank with transponder and 2 button R/C fob i have one existing key some people say i need 2 keys to program a new one others say i only need onei have also found conflicting write ups on this

I didnt know timpsos could program them.

Well i have one key and to get another programed i need to go to dealer which is a sore point a the moment but thats another story.

according to manual(ford and vw) and experience of all here you need 2 to program a 3rd (for the PATS system)+ ... will be interesting to see how they do it - please let us know. Only need one for the RC part - as all the posts on here say

i got key blank cut and works unlocks locks doors manually then programmed key new key would then unlock/lock doors via remote but engine would start but not run

old key would start engine but not lock unlock doors via remote

reprogrammed old key it now works fine but new key no longer works via remote

got both keys working as remotes

still cant get PATS working

Yup thats just where i got to also.

Start the car with the old key and turn it off again, then the new one will start and run the car but not once you lock and unlock it again

Im off to the dealer again next week to see if i can sort out a cheaper non remote key just as a spare.

reprogrammed old key it now works fine but new key no longer works via remote

 

 

thats as expected - you can program each key separately - rolls the code to the next one but to get both working you have to program them both in the same session (as per sks post in the faq) I assume from your later post that this is what you did to get both working
