Does anyone know which headlamp bulbs are now fitted in the new BMW's and Audis, they seem to have a very noticable blue glow to them and i think they would look pretty nice on my blue Galaxy, i have asked at my local auto store but they say thay have never heard of them, only these slightly tinted ones which are'nt brilliant.

These bulbd seem to almost change colour as you look at them from different angles?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Danny,

Be careful on this one as I too fancied the blue look bulbs ala new Mercedes, but was informed that these are in fact Zenon lights which work on their own transformers and are not an easy add on extra at a later date.

Currently got Phillips blue lights in my other vehicle and can't say I'm that impressed.

danny boy just for your info I've tryed to get the same effect (blue light) for my 98 TDi have eventually bought some Ring Sport Blue bulbs the 80w/100w type (ment to be used off road BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYONE FLASH ME OR GOT NASTY LOOKS FROM THE OLD BILL!!!) , I've virtually tryed every other bulb on the market but am quite happy now with these Ring Bulbs which do give off blue/white light and have not melted the wiring(had them on for over 6 Hours!). You can find these bulbs all over the place web/shops. all the best craig e01 p.s H4 bulbs dipped/main beam!

The bulbs you are looking for are HID high intensity discharge, and can be bought from all good car shops for between 200-500 quid, they will work without an uprated wiring loom but its a good idea to get one,

Failing that you can get a set of 100/130 h4's,

park the car facing a wall, mark on the wall where the top of the dip beam shines, lower the lights 1 or 2 clicks then raise them with the screws under the bonnet till they are level again

When you are on the open road you can raise the lights to get better visability and when in town you can lower them as not to dazzle everybody.

i have been doing this since the 90's with my cavy and do the same with the galaxy, just remember that you might have to re-set them before the mot if you use a "good" garage as they might charge you to adjust them
