Wimb Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) Tomorrow I start the trek of cutting my emissions down from 8% to MOT levels <_< From what ive read so far main things are Lambda, Cat, Seconary Air Pump. First thing i did was to get a hold of an error code reader and it came up with 1 DTC P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor1) now at first guess I was thinking Lambda sensor, but reading on here about the Secondary air pump circuit allowing the lambda to work has me boggled, so i just guess ill test it when it gets light outside and see what happens And if anyone wants their error codes reading and is in the West Mids area give me a shout on here and ill gladly help :) Ill update this post with what i find tomorrow and if anyone has any suggestions for other bits to check feel free to tell me plz Edited March 8, 2008 by Wimb Quote
Stevoo Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 8%??????????blooooody hell :lolDo you have a cat fitted?<_< Quote
Wimb Posted March 8, 2008 Author Report Posted March 8, 2008 Yeah there is a cat fitted but changing this as iv'e picked up a new one for Quote
JohnR Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Bit late now I know, but I got a universal fit zircon lamba sensor from ebay for about Quote
Wimb Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 I also had a O2 sensor from ebay , changed that for an original ford sensor due to the error I listed above. So now I have changed plugs, air filter, O2 sensor (again) and a new cat... Now the car has a ton of extra power, so just need to wait now and see if it passes or not Oh and again if anyone does want codes reading im on msn everynight , mcwiggy@hotmail.co.uk Quote
Beyond Help? Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 I have found universal lamba sensors to be a bit hit-or-miss to the point that I simply will not fit them anymore. Quote
Wimb Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 Well got it through the MOT now after driving it a while got a new error code which is P0402 EGR Excessive Flow Im guessing this is a sensor somewhere on the EGR anyone know more about this plz ? Quote
Stevoo Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 What does that mean?EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor (DPF). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0402 code means that OBD detected an excessive amount of EGR. SymptomsYou may noticedrivability problems such as the engine may surge off idle. There may also be other symptoms. CausesA code P0402 most likely means one or more of the following has happened: The DPFE (differential pressure) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced There is a blockage in the EGR (most likely carbon buildup) The EGR valve is faulty The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum Possible SolutionsWith a P0402, it is common for people to replace the EGR valve, only to have the problem return. The most likely solution is to replace the DPFE sensor. Check the voltage at the DPFE sensor both at idle and when the EGR is open Replace the DPFE sensor Quote
