See here - sounds like a good deal:

The key really has three components:

1) The blade which needs to be cut to fit the barrel in the locks

2) The chip that will disarm the immobiliser ( new one needs to be programmed to the immobiliser of your car)

3) Remote for central locking ( if your car supports remote central locking - needs to be programmed to your car

If you are after all three - see the link above

If you just need the blade bit to open the door - Timpsons locksmiths can cut this for you for less that

yes only having a single key means that the main dealer is needed to program the key (for the PATS) (using their equivalent of vag-com - wds2000, vag-com can do it but you need a special code from the dealer) apparently the same can be done by some auto locksmiths although the only quote I've seen here is

I had a feeling you were gonna say that.

The new key is just sitting in the kitchen drawer which is great until i loose the working one.

Looks like ill have to bite the bullet and pop off to the dealer then.

Donations this way please

get a standard key while you are there - if you lose 1 then you can program the replacement yourself cos you will still have 2 keys
