IanBo Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hi folks. Just joined because we have a Galaxy, and having been a member of a similar forum (Lexus Owners Club) for a while, I know how valuable and entertaining these forums can be. I also have a query about our car which I will post in the technical section as soon as I get access to it. My car has been fitted with a wheelchair lift in the back, and hand controls, since I am blessed with a progressive neurological complaint which is rendering my legs useless. Is there anyone else here in a similar postion? Cheers,IanBo :o Quote
mumof4 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 welcome to our merry band ian, I cant recall if anyone has a lift in the back of theirs, maybe a soundproofed partition or two and the odd straight jacket and gag, some have a bed in theirs for whatever reason i can only imagine, ( i have a very biiiiiiiiiig imagination) I know we have a mondeo driver who has problems with his back i believe?? but i think most of us have some sort of problem with our brain as we . well, most of us, own an mpv :o if my sense of humour offends, then please let me know..i am on day 5 of quitting smoking and im a bit doolally and my gob has been running away from me lately....god its amazeing what it says and i dont even have to think for it!:D anyway, welcome once again.you can post in the trainee section and either i, or another mod will move your post into technical, its only till you have made a couple of posts :D Quote
IanBo Posted February 25, 2008 Author Report Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) Hi Mum of 4. Thanks for the offer, but since posting this I've found what I was looking for in the aux heater thread. Ours is smoking (grey smoke) until the engine has warmed up. Having just put it to the local Ford dealer, they told us "It's working fine, and there is nothing you can do about the smoke". Can't say as I was overly impressed with that answer, but now that I've read the thread I can see that probably a new glow plug is the likely remedy. Unfortunately, my lack of mobility make working under a car tricky, so I guess I'll live with it and if it gets too bad, take the fuse out! At least I now know why it sounds like a jet engine :o Sense of humour is fine by the way. Cheers,IanBo :D Edited February 25, 2008 by IanBo Quote
mumof4 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 The jet engine noise is normal, as is some smoke, least its working :D mine never did and by eck it was cold in the winter :o stay with us as you never know, might need us again, and maybe if there is a member near you, they may be able to help, we have members scattered far and wide and some even abroad.the galaxy gets everywhere. :D Quote
Mary Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hi there and welcome I only recently joined but they seem to be a good crowd on here!!!!! I also live in Scotland and my Father has a VW Sharan with wheelchair access. So any questions I can ask him. I don't know where in Scotland you are and its a pretty big place up here but I live a few heather clumps west of Aberdeen!! Welcome again and look forward to your posts. Mary :) Quote
gregers Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 hi ian as said welcome to the forum Quote
IanBo Posted February 25, 2008 Author Report Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) Hi Mary and Gregers. Thanks for the greetings. Looks like there is just as much camaraderie here as there is on the LOC. Same Invision web system also, so I've no problems navigating my way around. I'm 20 miles north of Aberdeen Mary, so we are in the same neck of the woods. Cheers,Ian.
