Guest Shazza Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 In the CSMA magazine this month, there is a letter froma Peugeot 307 owner about hazarous wipers which don't reach the edge of the windscreen. I will reply to it and tell them about my Galaxy. Here is my front driver's side wiper at its fullest extent. Imagine the space to the right of that covered in mucky spray from lorries or even worse, snow. Do you think it's safe to drive with a blindspot like that? I don't. Mussey1 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Shazza, You can get that adjusted. As you can see from the pictures of my car the blind spot is very small. Mussey1. Quote
Guest Shazza Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 I asked at my local Ford dealer a few months ago and they basically said tough! There was nothing they could do. Shazza Quote
Tigger Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Looking at the photos I can see that the drivers wiper is the lead one. This is not the case on all Glaxay so this will hinder how much you can take away by ajusting the wiper. On my MK1 the drivers wiper was second but I did ajust both up 1 spline and that helped. After, the drivers wiper tip just came to the edge of the glass tapering away at the bottom. My new galaxy has the same problem just not got around to doing it yet. As has been covered before RainX or the like does help. Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Shazza that doesnt look right at all, have you taken the photo at its full extent of the sweep, its either been fitted incorrectly or you have the wrong arm on ar the wrong type of wipers, I would suggest getting someone to look at it or compare with another local Galaxy and get the right one. Its defo not right. I have a Mk2 and it sweeps in the rain to about 4 or 5 inches from the post Quote
Guest BOZZY Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Have just found this website and I am so pleased :( that I am not the only one who has niggles with his galaxy. Initially searching the net for aircon info and found this site and the aircon discussion thread. Also discovered this discussion and will certainly be trying the arm/spindle adjustment technique. Mine isn't quite as bad as Shazza'z but not far off. Had a thought on MrT's wiper blade length. It's possible the longer one goes on the leading arm and the shorter one goes on the trailing arm - reduces the chance of them catching. <_< Quote
Guest Idris Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 interesting topic. My 99 recently went off to the dealer for its 60k service. Prior to going in, I had watched this thread but couldnt work out what the problem was as my drivers wiper swept to around an inch or two from the pillar. When I got it back I noticed that it only went to 4-5 inches away and with the recent rain up here, it wasn't very nice! I can only presume that the dealer decided to change it all around for some reason (although he did replace the pollen filter - maybe that necessitated removing the shroud?) so I will have to change it back. Is it as easy as just undoing the bolt and moving it around one notch? Quote
