Could anyone tell me the average time from ordering a galaxy 2ltr diesel to delivery as my dealer as just put another 6 weeks on mine saying it takes on average 5 Months
Posted
Ordered mine on 23rd August 2007 it's finally here ready for 08 plate

Noo, don't say that!

I ordered mine on the 9th Jan for our holiday at the begining of May, dealer quoted 6-14 weeks wait.

I ordered under the 'old price' and they're already talking about calculating the price increase with the new spec model coming out from 3rd March - I'll be even more pi$$ed if I have to wait 5 months+ too. :o

Wello everyone

I ordered the Galaxy 2.0 with sunroof and anothers extras at 5th Jan, and last saturday the dealer told me that probably arraive in 3May. :)

The problem is that here in Portugal, ford has a promotion that in case of being born a child in the same year of the purchase of the vehicle, ford gives 2000Euros, case the vehicle is registred until 30Abril. I claim with the dealer because when we make the deal (5Jan)we have these issue in acount, because in Ago 2008 we go to have another child. I hope that Ford (Portugal) arranges a solution because it would be incredible to lose this extra money due the 3 days.

Best regards

Ordered my galaxy on the 23rd of janaury and was told the build date would be 20th of feb but since change the model from lx to edge and new build date was 3rd of march. Was then told the car would arrive in about 2 weeks.

After reading all these stories,i think i am being strung along and the car wont be here for a long long time yet.

I wasnt ask any extra for the model change.

When they say about 2 weeks after build date for the arrival, would this be right ?

I ordered early jan was told by reps at both showrooms owned by this firm i visited Quote if you order now i would get it for march 1st unquote i ordered and had to keep reminding rep i did not want it before new 08 plate as he kept on telling me i would have it for the end of feb.

two weeks after i ordered i was phoned by the rep who said i could not have the colour i ordered as it had already been discontinued i told him my second choice of colour he said he was just about to put my order with ford and i would have the car by 1st of march.

I phoned 2 Weeks ago to see if everything was going to plan rep was a bit evasive and said he would get back to me later, I was later called by a different rep and was told there had been a misunder standing and i would not receive my car as stated he first insinuated i misunderstood the rep when i explained he had firmly promised the car in front of my wife and granddaughter he sounded as though he was starting to accuse me of lying until i asked him if he thought i was a liar he then started to backtrack to the misunderstanding part. He told me my car was scheduled to be built on the 4th march and i should receive it around 22nd although he would now not even give me a ball park figure of a definite date i would receive it. I asked if when we got near that date i would be given another excuse or be told i had misunderstood again he would not even promise this.

Which all goes to show reps must be the decendants of the old used car sales men of legend DO NOT believe a word they say while selling you a car!!!!!!!!

So our cars will be build nearly the same times (a day apart),aprrox 2 weeks for delivery which may end up being 3 weeks.Anytime in march would do but anything after that and i'd be upset.

WHY ME...May i asked who your dealer is ?Internet ?

Ive never been in a position to buy a new car so maybe someone could answer a simple question for me.

Do you always have to wait for the car to arrive and if so how long.

I just cannot believe that you have to wait for months on end for the car to arrive

I must admit that i havnt got much patience and if a cant have it straight away or before i dont want it but i think (Correction i know) i would tell Ford to shove the car and go looking for a nearly new second hand one or failing that look for another make of vehicle

The dealer i am using at the moment is based in Oldham and Rochdale OMC,

I last dealt with a dealer in burnley CD Brammall and they messed me about and tried ripping me off but i sussed what they where up to and had to put them in their place they have changed hands now but still have the same staff i went there to see if i could get one any faster than the broken promise i had from the ones i am using now he promised 6 to 12 weeks depending on which model and engine.

My dealer said he would have the vin no as soon as a chassis was allocated at ford probably another fib. Good luck with your delivery date

Adrian i had to wait 4 weeks for my first two new cars both mondeo gia x my last mondeo i had to wait 6 weeks for after being promised it in 3 and just got it 3 days before i had to go to Cornwall for our hols. Gits

Does anyone know if they're allowed to ask for extra money if the price goes up?

I paid a deposit and have the written agreement etc for all the amounts but under the old prices. Now that they've increased their prices for the 2008.5 model would they be within their rights to demand more cash from me?

Cheers..

Hi I'm in the fortunate position of having purchased a number of new vehicles. Some on factory order, some direct from factory stock. In my experience & especially with the Galaxy the dealers under estimate the delivery times. I ordered a new Galaxy back in November, and was eventually given a build date of 31 Jan, which then moved to 6 Feb. Whilst all of this was going on, I kept an eye on various dealer sites, and spotted one in stock for immediate delivery so snapped it up. I don't know happened because I cancelled the original order, but I do know that the dealer took the options off the order and left it as a std build.

My advice in the current climate would be to contact a number of dealers - especially those with a large dealer network (eg Dagenham Motors) and ask them what vehicles they have in stock. You will find that some dealers 'hide' vehicles as being sold that prevents other dealers seeing them as 'available' and buying them in for customers. You may have to compromise on options, but you may end up with close to what you want. The other option is to ask a dealer to amend an existing order, which may help with the delivery date. The downside of this is that if you then load the vehicle with lots of goodies it could work the other way as the additional items will probably add delay into the scheduling of the vehicle.

To give you an example of this, I spotted a 2.3 Galaxy Ghia Auto available for sale at Hendy's in Southampton, so they are out there, and I have seen 3x 2.0TDCis Ghia's available in the last month or so - one of those I have - so they are out there ! Also just seen a couple of 1.8/2.0 TDCi S-Max's and Mondeos being advertised at Ford Main Dealers in the last 5 mins !

Happy hunting !

Good news mine was actually manufactured on the date a was given, :D

Bad news it now seems to have disappeared some where in transit the dealer cannot find it on his ford PC site. :D

Hands up any one who thinks i am having the urine taken out of me i mean i am sure i do not look so god damn gullible

Oops they have found it now, It appears to be exactly where they left it in the first place in some vast compound in Holland looks like the promised date of 22 march is now out of the question. Why do these guys promise what they cannot deliver(excuse the pun) Now one rep says i will have it within a week his boss will not give me a definite date but says it SHOULD yes should be arriving within Ten days.

Thats it this is the last time i buy ford every rep i deal with is about as honest as Arthur Daley they cannot open their mouths with out diarrhea coming out of it is their just one honest rep or Ford dealer out there. B) :)

Any one from the ford company reading this you just lost a long standing customer one who buys cars and vans from you and is even daft enough to have them serviced by you but no more is honesty too much to ask for?

I'd be suprised if they would be worried. Galaxy's are in such short supply, they would have theirs hands ripped off. You can see how long people are having to wait in this thread.

As the vehicle has been built, it will have a VIN, so the dealer should be able to register it in March to retain any discounts on offer. Once into April, you run the risk of it being repriced - thats my experience anyway.

As for reps - you get the good ones and the bad ones. Once you find a good one - stick with them. It pays in the long run. I always give my rep 2/3 bottles of wine after I've picked the car up. Nothings too much trouble if I then have a problem !

Just an update , Just received phone call from rep 6.15 pm told me he as asked ford couriers where my car is and when it will arrive said he is waiting for an email from them. A car that was finished on the same day and was with my car as already been sent but apparently mine is still in Holland. Any one know an address or phone no i can complain to i know they will probably not give a damn but if these reps know some people are not willing to believe all their excuses they might change their ways a little.

In the meantime any one thinking of buying from the ford dealers in Rochdale or Oldham beware and if you must buy from there tape all your conversations so you can play them back to them when they start trying to convince you the conversation you had previously was just a MISUNDERSTANDING :( ;) :(

I ordered my 2.0 tdci Ghia on the 9th Jan, I'm picking it up next tuesday (8th April). I was told when ordering if I wanted the 2.0tdci there would be a longer wait as they are prioritising the New shape Mondeo over the Galaxy with that engine.

I just hope it's worth the wait and that the Black with Black windows doesn't look too much like a heasre!!

Well picked it up from the Dealers today, and my first impressions are that it's great. Cruise and the 2.0 tdci are a breeze for motorway miles, I only did 180 miles (56mpg av) down the M1 but I felt fresh as a daisy when I arrived home. It's the 2008.5 spec with all the new toys as std, I also got the intergrated blinds in the 2nd and 3rd row on there aswell (that I didn't order of pay for) but im not sure if they're included in the new spec or not.

So that was 9th Jan -> 8 April for my wait and I say it was worth it.
