Hi all, :(

New member here, this is my 1st post so please bear with me if i get it wrong!

Right, where do i start!!!

Auxillary heater...as far as we know, when we 1st got the car this worked as we can remember hearing a fan type noise, bit like a jet engine after getting out the car when turning engine off.

We,ve had so many problems so far with the car it was bliss to be able to come across this site and find some things we could actually fix ourselves like broken cables etc but haven't yet succeeded to fix the aux heater.

We've changed the glow plugs and it hasn't seemed to do anything, when we check under the car after a run the pipes and the unit are hot but there is no 'fan/jet' sound coming from the car or any smoke (never had smoke anyway but on a few occasions smelt a funny burning smell under car).

Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem could be or what we could try next.

You will probably see quite a lot of posts from me in the near future to try and get this heap of junk fixed, just one problem at a time for now though lol.

Thanks a lot guys

From my understanding of your post ..... the aux/booster heater used to work because you use to hear the jet noise when you switched the ignition off? So because you no longer heard the noise you changed the glowplugs? The heater only has one glowplug and only operates if the water temperature is below 75 degrees centigrade and the ambient air temp is below 5 degrees (11.5 degrees on certain models). You say that the unit is still hot after a run ..... how hot? You shouldn't be able to touch the small exhaust. Sounds to me like it's working because if it wasn't getting hot enough you would get loads of white smoke.

Perhaps someone else could advise.

The unit is hot but not too hot you can't touch it and the exhaust is stone cold.

We changed the 4 glowplugs in the engine, were these the right ones? If not where is the one for the aux heater? if they were the right ones, if one is for the aux heater, whats the other 3 for??

Cheers
