Galaxy Ghia Gal Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Purchased a Galaxy Ghia X 2.3 R reg at an Auction just over a week ago. Love the car but when we got it home discovered the central locking does not work. Surfed the web to figure out what was wrong and realised it's the ECU, it had been disconnected from the cables. It has 3 cables going into it, some of the wires had been broken off completely so extended all the wires in order to refit the 3 plugs and put them into the ECU...nothing happened. Got another ECU second hand, it only takes 2 cables but I was told the Central locking would work without the 3rd cable...plugged it in and nothing happened. Under the passanger seat is all dry and when some cables touched together the horn sounded...I assume this is for the alarm. Internal lights do not work only when put on via switch and the lights on the actual doors although working when I bought the vehicle stopped working. Again when wires are touched together the lights on doors work also the internal lights come on. I would be most grateful for anyones advice. Thanks in advanceDebbie Quote
?Bleeno? Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Debbie sounds like you need to get hold of a Ford TIS disc with the wiring diagrams to give you a start to where these wires should go. Have a look at the following post which will give you an idea. Unfortunately I didn't have any problems with the central locking on mine so I have little experience with the central locking on a Galaxy. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ral+locking+ecu Quote
Galaxy Ghia Gal Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 Hi Bleeno, thank you for your information. I'm delighted to say we have managed to get the ECU working, extended the wiring on all 3 leads and put on new plugs (i.e the bits that plug into the ECU) put in a new fuse when we managed to find the one for the Central Locking and hey presto it's all working fine now Quote
