Hello all i know this may have been covered many times but its 10.30pm am in the bloody driveway freezing my nutts off trying to see in the dark and my drivers window will not go up at all , either with the switch pack or with the key (global closure) . I can clearly hear the motor clicking for the down movement but nothing at all when you press the switch to go back up , door panels off and i seem to be getting voltage at the motor plug for up AND down but no clicking for up only . All other windows working fine up and down , cannot see any broken wires in the loom between door and pillar , no water under passenger seat all dry totally stumped off and peed off as its my daughter birthday tomorrow and guess who WAS taking her and friends out for the day . Had no problems with window before at all no slow movement before etc so if anyone has any ideas on what the hell is going on please tell me . I noticed its cable operated and there is next to no room at all inside the door how the hell do i get the window up at all either by hand or otherwise ?

any help and i'll be your slave for the week

thanks

Ok i have managed to remove the window regulator and motor etc and i can now prop up the glass at last . Getting power to motor plug for window to go down and up but the motor still refuses to move in the up direction it looks like it maybe the motor / regulator . Can anyone advise were the best ( cheapest ) place is to pick up a complete assembly inc motor /reg or even better does anyone have one for sale to fit my 2001 gal front drivers door :)

thanks

Hi ya Mike,

Same thing happened with mine except it was all four windows, my problem was the RED/YELLOW and BROWN wires were broke in the door gator. Window was clicking but no movement :)

To get the window back up, you need a TORX T27 bit and unscrew the two clamps holding the window in place, little bit fiddly but easy enough :D

I then wedged a bit of 1x2 bit of wood under the window put a screw through the vertical bracket to hold it in place and hey presto window up kids happy :D

Good luck

Hi Scorch!

I have the same problem with my Galaxy (1997 2.3 GLX Auto). The red/yello wire is broken and I'm unable to get to the wire in the pillar to see if I can pull it out a little. If I can somehow manage this I will simply solder the two parts back together! The wire seems to control the up/down on the drivers window and the up of the passenger window. I have manually touching the two parts of the cut wire together to open the window before I set out and then again to close it when I get back - sad, I know but I can't find a way of fixing it. :)

sadiq, find where the loom becomes accessible inside the car (behind the dash or side footwell trim) then simply splice a new longer piece of cable on, thread it through the pillar and repair it that way.
