hp4020 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Galaxy 07 2.0 TDCi Engine cuts out - This started out as a fault that only occurred when reversing off drive on a cold morning, since a remap the problem has got worse. Wife will now not drive the car, as the failing of the power steering whan it shuts down scares her. Mon 28th Jan 5.28pm Driving in straight line 3rd gear de accelerating towards junction 30mph engine cut out. Tuesday 29th Jan 5.05 pm going round roundabout 25mph second gear cut out on roundabout. Ended up on verge steering too heavy, no power, no hazards Quote
hp4020 Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Car has been with dealer four days, they were unable to fault it in that time. However a "calibration" was put out by Ford to fix the cutting out problem on Friday, a Ford techie visiting the dealership downloaded and installed. Had it back 10 days now and it has ran the best it ever has. Also fuel consumption ( according to Comp) has risen by 4mpg So fingers crossed . Quote
mk3nick Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 That's sounds promising. Hope that's all the problems you have. It's odd that it takes a visiting Ford tech to perform a download and install?... Quote
bigboyeast Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 57 2.0 TDCi Galaxy Very interested in this post. I have been having similar problems. First started when reversing off drive on cold mornings. Engine would cut out and all electrics would go dead. Then problem expended to cover engine cutting out whilst decelerating at traffic lights or roundabouts. Usually early in a journey and often while changing down from 3rd to 2nd gear. Car would always restart. Was planning to take the car into the local dealer to get it checked. Is there any documentation/notification on this Ford Quote
belleyetere Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Have you tried resetting the trip. My Galaxy was showing about 40mpg. I reset the trip and on a long Journey I am getting nearly 60mpg at 60mph and 44mpg knocking about town. Mine is a 1.8 TDCI Quote
bigboyeast Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Yes reset trip prior to two long journeys. After both trips, mostly motorway and dual carriageway driving at 55-65 mph still shows only 40 to 42.1 mpg. This is worrying me as on similar trips in my old mk 2 1.9 TDI Passat I would get better than 54 mpg, driving slightly faster. Quote
hp4020 Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) The "calibration" was released by Ford on Friday 15th Feb. Im sorry I dont have a name or number for it. My MPG has gone up to 41 around town which is a 4mpg increase. I only have 7k on the Galaxy, I would expect the mileage to keep on improving as the engine loosenes, previous experience with a picasso, strted getting best mileagae at 35k + Re your problem, does my log of faults sound similar This started out as a fault that only occurred when reversing off drive on a cold morning, since a remap the problem has got worse.
