Temp Gauge Flashing

Hi

Anyone know anything about the temp gauge light flashing red ??

 

and can shed some light on it for me please

 

coolant is ok in bottle , flashed for about a mile then off then came back on turned ignition off

 

restarted the car then it was'nt flashing after about another 2 miles started flashing again

 

any input will be appprecited

Where is the needle on the gauge?

 

I had a similar problem last week, flashing light but needle as high as it would go. Turned out to be the Temp gauge sender unit, the lower 1 of the 2 sensors on the thermostat housing (Square plug, not the round one)

Hi

The needle is normal was a bit eratic before xmas but then went back to normal

 

must add that the engine was cold soons as i started the engine the red light was flashing

 

topped up expansion bottle this evening started car no red light left running for 5 mins and the

 

light came back on

and you're definitely not losing coolant? Just asking as this is a topic close to my heart (and possibly wallet) at the moment!

hi had the problem after checking the wire connectors and giving them a wiggle the problem disappeared, maybe just a bad connection,

well worth trying first

reached down the back of the battery wiggled the wires all light now off ( touch wood ) lol

been a fews weeks since and still off

I've got the same problem - did wiggling the wires solve the prob completely??
