naim32 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Whilst trying to take out a parking sensor the housing which holds it also broke off. I'm thinking of using super glue or araldite to stick it back on with. Has anyone used either and does it last or is there a better alternative. PS I also need a cheap mk2 parking sensor. Quote
searcher Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I done the same thing on my old Galaxy and the only thing i had at the time was super glue.It was only going to be a temopary fix but sold the car months later and it was still on there with the super glue.I think the trick is get it in the exact spot and it should be ok. As for a cheap sensor, let me know if you find any because i could when i needed one.IIRC Ford wanted over Quote
smedzz Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 try ebay usually the cheapest place  Quote
Rusty Nail Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 When I sold my last car, I took the parking sensor kit off, and superglued some plastic blanking gromets in place, they looked the part and even the jet wash didn't budge them. Can you get to the back of the sensor and use a rubber open gromet slid ovrt the casing to hold it in place? Just a thought. Quote
naim32 Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 Just tried super glue but it wouldn't bond at all. This is on a MK2 so I don't know if different plastic is used or if the glue is no good. The sensor itself seems intermittent, some days it works, others not. It doesn't tick like the others. Quote
searcher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 If its not ticking then i would say its kaputAs i said in an earlier post super glue stuck mine and that was on a MkII but maybe i was just lucky. Quote
gregers Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 did you use any accelerator for the super glue?this helps it bond to the surface(spray 1 side glue on the other). Quote
Davetheref Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 I bought a do-it-yourself kit from Ebay and used silicon sealant (the same as for bathrooms etc) to stick them in with. Quote
