dakster Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) BARUM BAR BRAVURIS 97H XL I have these fitted to my mercedes clk and would recommend them. My last set of rears on the merc (continental sport contact 2) lasted 18000 miles, The Barums I now have on will do 25000. I wouldnt say they are better or worse tyre than the contis - for normal driving - , just feel different (and a whole lot cheaper). I`ll be looking for a set to put on the Galaxy when the current tyres (Fortuna) wear out. As I`m aware Barums are manufacture by Continental in portugal.I now have Bravuris 2s on the front and they are every bit as good as the previous Contis. Personally I wouldn`t want Chinese tyres (Wanlis, Fullruns etc.) anywhere near my Cars. I`m ok with non branded tyres as long as they are from a trusted manufacturer. Incidentally I cant seem to trace Fortuna F2000s at the moment, which is what we currently have on the Galaxy. These are good tyres IMHO, were cheap (less than Edited June 29, 2008 by dakster Quote

sparky Paul Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Just to add... as well as the Fortunas, South China Tyre & Rubber also make Sunny and Wanli tyres. Quote
davewill Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Had my two front tyres replaced with the Wanli's yesterday Fitter says they sell a lot of them, but then says you probably won't get more than 12,000 miles out of them So what i say, i didn't get more than 12,000 out of the Dunlops and they cost twice the price! ;) First impressions are OK, probably a bit more road noise than the Dunlops but nothing too excessive Steering also feels a little lighter, although they did adjust the tracking at the garage, as this was out of line Will be doing a long journey at the weekend, so will get better feel of the tyres then Well the Wanli tyres have just been changed after 13,500 miles Overall i'm quite happy with that considering they are "budget" tyres and the Dunlop SP Sports i had before were shot after 10,000 In fairness the Wanli's still had a few mm of tread on them, but in wet conditions i was getting wheel spin when pulling away from junctions even if i was not accelerating hard, and also getting bad understeer when negotiating smaller roundabouts (theres lots of them in Telford) I have gone for another budget brand this time recommended by a HI Q tyre depot. mikej Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Well for whats its worth i have just ordered 4 Sumo Firenza ST-01 215/55 R16 97W's for Quote
seatkid Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Well the Wanli tyres have just been changed after 13,500 miles I got well over 50,000 miles on the original set of CONTI sport contacts I'm now at 90,000 and have bought just 5 tyres since new (I cycled in the full size alloy spare) I swap them around at approx 25,000 mile intervals otherwise the back tyres/spare will never wear out (but die of old age) Currently have 2 x Conti premium contacts on front (6mm+ / 10,000 miles / 1 year) 2 x Conti sport contacts on rear (3 mm /40,000 miles /5 years) Spare although it has over 2mm is knacked due to a bodged tyre repair by a back street garage which has caused strange wear pattern and balancing and steering problems. I think the internal vulcanising has come apart... The Conti premiums cost Edited October 15, 2008 by seatkid Quote
galaxy hunter Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Hi all, i have been running Wanli's for around a year now on my mk1they are 18's and i would have to agree on the road noise!!!!Part from that i think they are good in the wet and the dry .......For a cheapish tyre i think they are worth a stab! mikej Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Well just had the Firenzas fitted and first impressions are good , dare i say it better stopping than the Dunlops although this could be just a wear issue as the Dunlops were shot , i do have a 500 mile motorway trip in the next few days so i suppose if they perform well then its money well spent , as for the noise issue i'll let you know !
