HomeRUSH Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Hi there. This is my first post!I found the exact same problem on my mk1 and now my mk2 Galaxy. The symptoms are EXACTLY the same for the front windows (I don't have electric rear windows). It has been reported on here before - I just searched and found it - this may help you: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...c=7703&st=0 It seems it is a VERY common fault in Galaxy's so it does beg the question as to a: why does this happen and b: why don't Ford do something about it as it is so well known (like provide a free fix or change the design for repairs)? If only, if only...... :) Cheers HR Quote
scorch21 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the search, seems to be a v.common fault.Looks like its a date with an auto spark then. Thanks again HR Quote
HomeRUSH Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Thanks for the search, seems to be a v.common fault.Looks like its a date with an auto spark then. Thanks again HR No probs matey. I took a look at mine today after I had been to the local garage with my other car for its service/MOT and enquired about the wiring loom which has been "out of stock with Ford" for over three months. Finally it had arrived on Friday last week and I made arrangements for it to be fitted. However after looking at the posts on here and seeing the the wiring loom in the garage, I saw the red/yellow wire amongst the group of about ten or fifteen wires and clearly they are easy to fix if they are broken in the joint between the door and the pillar (under the gator). So I took a look at mine and low and behold the red/yellow wire was indeed broken. So I had just enough wire to crimp it and ten mins later, it all works perfectly ok!!! That's all it has taken, one small join and ten minutes. So yours might be the same and that easy - I just used a standard join crimp thingy for car wires which I had in a box in the garage. Job done and Quote
scorch21 Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 Hello all, good news all round took the rubber gator off and yes low and behold RED/YELLOW wire broke, fixed that with inline crimp :35: 2 mins later window up and down and working pass side also. Took the rear doors gators off same thing RED/YELLOW but with a BROWN snapped, they now crimped and all windows working. Just in time for the summer eh :(Cheers Quote
tiny Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Well done all, my drivers window stopped working weeks ago, just had a look and the red/yellow wire is snapped. Bridged it and hey presto window works. Will perform a proper fix tomorrow in daylight but for now, thanks. :35: Quote
