I'm looking to fit a set of 18" wheels to my Mk2 2.3 Galaxy, either the RS6 or A8 style. The correct tyre size I believe is 225/40R18. However having seen various comments on this site about load ratings and needing reinforced tyres I'm struggling to find any tyres with a high enough load rating, unless I'm looking for the wrong info. I've been in touch with Rochford Alloys on the web (www.alloywheels.com) who have some cracking prices and asked if they can supply suitable reinforced tyres and they came back to me and said they can supply these: Event WL905 92W XL. Never heard of that brand but surely the 92 rating would be too low?? Even when I've searched for reinforced tyres on mytyres.co.uk I cant find any with a high load rating. Can anyone advise as I'm desperate to get rid of my scabby standard 16" Ghia wheels and get the nice 18"'s with lowered springs?

Try going for 235 width instead of 225 as i think they do come in a higher load rating.

Also watchout for the wheel offset.

Most common seems to be 35 but in my opinion and it is only my opinion they stick out a little too far especially on the front.

Thanks for that, I'm finding a few in the 235 width and actually when I checked on a tyre size calculator website, the 235 is actually closer to the overall diameter of the standard 16" setup than the 225 tyre choice (0.3% difference) . In the sensible money range are Kumho Ecsta's in a 95 XL load rating which I've previously had on my BMW 7 series and Xtype and I really rate them highly.

Regarding offset, the wheels I'm looking at are available in a 42 offset which I noticed a few people on here have said is the correct one.

thanks
