Hi all

I have read the FAQ and there does not appear to be any similar.

My problem:

Front wipers do not work on once by pushing lever down, intermittent or speed 1. However they do work on Wally wipers(fast). Rear wipers and front/rear washers still work. Checked all possible fuses and seem ok. Not had the chance to check anything else as it is too dark to see.

Question:

1. If it was the motor would they not work on any setting?

2. What else could it be?

Any help appreciated as it won't stop raining!!

Thanks all

Hi comhander

Sounds to me like the stalk may be the issue.

If the front / rear wash & wipe is OK as is the linkage snapping wally mode, then I would say the motor is OK as is the ECU.

I'm sure its a pig but I would start looking under the steering cowl for loose or damaged plugs etc.

Have fun

Hi Rusty

Thanks I will look tomorrow. May be lucky if it's the stalk cos I bought a new one recently to attempt a cc conversion at a later date.

I'll let you know.

Hi comhander

Do I take cc to mean cruise control?

If so - aren't the wipers on the other stalk?

Or is it just me??????

nope, you're quite right rusty- cc is on the other side.

The stalk is one unit. Both sides. So unless it is wiring connection/loom I can replace the stalk.

Just seen tomorrows weather - looks like I'm a Wally Wiper ;) Hope the linkage can hold out.

Two things.

1- isn't there a seperate relay that does the intermittent wiper bit

2- years ago on an old car mine stopped working and found it was the wiper motor.

on the back of motor where connections are inside there was 3 connections and the intermittent one had blown.

but the other two worked fine.

Now in this day and age things should be made better so check relay or relay's first.

Thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on it as all wiper speeds worked fine when I turned the car on this morning  . Worked fine all day so I don't want to risk making it worse

Mine stopped today been out on the drive all night with son holding torch. Had the linkage apart one was very stiff got it all back in around 10:30 and still didn't work. So out again tested lead to motor when wipers on 3 termainals together live at 12V 12V and 10.3V or something. Circuit board looks a bit worse for wear and black on one side. Tried motor on a battery charger and it ran so thinking its circuit board.

Anyone know how much a new one of these costs or if you can get them?

This has really buggered up my weekend..oh well. I have done the linkage in the past and used copper grease - I think this time I'll use LM (I take it thats low melting point).
