Guest Route66 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I have a mondeo 1800 td glx p reg. 96, with a endura-td engine. Having worn the teeth off the timing belt, the garage has told me it has damaged 5 valves. However my local parts shop has informed me, the endura engine has valve clearance as to not foul the valves, also the 96 timing kit does not fit and needs a 97 kit, which my parts shop told me the endura engine didn't come out until 97-98. Is the garage ripping me off ?Many thanks Ken. Quote
Gteuk Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Sounds like a possibility to me, try getting another garage to identify the engine and see what they come up with, if they are telling porkies then take them to the cleaners. Quote
Guest Swing-Your-Pants Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Hi Did you ever find out about the valve clearances ? I've just bought a 1998 1.8 TD with the Endura engine with 121k on the clock. I cannot any indication that the cam belt has been changed but it looks in good condition and no teeth missing. Should I not worry about it or change it just in case. Appreciate any feedback on this topic. Many thanks Quote
