Beyond Help? Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 (edited) http://www.sanden.com/support/pdf/sd7servicemanual.pdf should help you see how to remove the clutch and bearing. You can do this on the car but you may need to unbolt the compressor to make room, don't over stress the hoses though! As with all bearings, one you have it out you can measure it and get a replacment. (inner dimension, outer dimension and width) Edited January 21, 2008 by Beyond Help? Quote
gregers Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 thanx for that B/H,went into my local vw dealer today with my code and lo and behold up it came FOR A PETROL???????basically wasnt very helpful. ive seen 1 with a no:7mo820803p but he couldnt cross match the numbers but said they dont tend to give out the codes because theyve been blamed for giving the wrong codes(basically i think)there p155ed off for not getting the work,if truth be told. 7mo820803p fitted ady/1z/ahd/afn/aug engine cars so he said mines a auy1 engine so that aint going to fit(bugger)it was a new one. asked him if they done a bearing kit?er no was the reply. gregers Posted February 12, 2008 Author Report Posted February 12, 2008 right peeps, have managed to obtain another compressor 2nd hand from a garage, was to be fitted to another galaxy but the customer changed there mind, apparently its all ok and working, what i would like to know from you all knowing beings is,what needs to be done to the compressor etc,ie does it need oil put in it?spoke to kwik fit and they reckon that if the compressor on my car is fubared then the gas has leaked out and a recharge is 35 quid at the mo,obviously im doing this on the cheap lack of funds etc, just would like a fighting chance of trying to get this sorted out with guidence from you experts.awaiting your responses. regards gregers Quote
gregers Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) WELL WOULD YOU BLOODY BELIEVE IT :D :D as some of you had mentioned b4 YOU WERE RIGHThad a service carried out tonight and when my m8(mech)took the under tray off LO AND BEHOLD sitting in it quite happily was the clutch plate and nut from the compressor,i had taken my new one with me just to show him(stroke of luck),on the compressor is a rod with splines on it and the clutch plate has a serrated hole so it fits together, well my clutch plate had worn down so it was almost smoothe,on closer inspection it looked like the nut had just simply come loose and the plate had started rattling on the rod which is probably what the horrendous noise was?,well i was a bit skeptical on whether the compressor had seized or not,but on my m8s say so we unbolted the clutch plate off of the new one and fitted it to the one on the car(PIG OF A JOB)but we done it in the end,LO AND BEHOLD started the car put the air con on and the compressor engaged and sprung into life, ran it for about 15 mins and stuck a probe down the centre vent and the temp was 6degress,YIPPEE ive got aircon again.so now ive got a compressor minus the clutch plate sitting in my garage along with a booster heater  my m8 also couldnt believe i had managed to obtain all my service parts(original parts)for the price of 30 quid delivered. :D 1 thing my mech has spotted is ive got a bit of an oil leak started round the condenser/turbo :( Edited February 18, 2008 by gregers Quote
mumof4 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 well you cant have everything, whats an itty bitty oil leak when youve managed to get the rest working  Quote
