mjohnh Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Hello, my TDi Galaxy 2002 sometimes makes a chu-chu-chu sound when pulling awayit seems only to happen in first or 2nd gear. it seems only to happen between 1500-2000 revs. it happens when engine hot or cold. its seems more noticeable if pulling away on a hill. if it does happen and i push accelerator then goes away once hit 2000 + revs. If idling on drive and press accelerator then don't get it - only when moving if i drive hard though the first two gears then it doesn't happenAny ideas ? Smilge Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 mjohnh .... sounds like you need to wait for the boiler to get up to the right pressure before setting off. What type coal are you using? ...... Sorry mate .. couldn't resist that but it sounds as though the engine's not breathing properly under load (if it's the sound I'm thinking of). Does it hesitate when the noise occurs? Things that may effect the injection demand values ..... MAF, TMAP sensor, Throttle position sensor, injection timing. Another thing to consider is the EGR valve. How many miles has it done and has anything been done to the car recently? Quote
mjohnh Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 Hi, Yes the car does hesitate a little when this happens. The car has done about 55K miles and I had noticed it following a service which included changing front disks and pads and replacing tracking rod. I did think initially it was the new pads bedding in but it hasn't gone away. I will go back to the garage but as i know very little about engines I wanted to go prepared ! thanks for your help Quote
