me myself and I Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Ok.Need your thoughts on this.1997 2.0 ltr Dohc petrolI replaced the engine last summer.Havent done a huge amount of miles in it since. Because only the technical side was done ie literally old engine out new engine in with new clutch and slave cylinder and no electronic stuff donewould it be of any benefit to get the ecu checked/remapped or will the ecu re-read itself for the new engine. Also I presume it is set for 95ROn petrol. Will do my own tests with petrol over the next few weeks to see which petrol it runs best with.Any advice greatly appreciated. Neils TDi again Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Having had the battery disconnected for such a prolonged period as to change the engine the ECU should have reset any variable parameters held so a remap/renew data would probably not help a performance remap however may bring improvements or indeed another engine requirement but thats a whole new discussion. Best left as is unless your having issues as the O2 sensor and knock sensor adjusts the timeing etc to accomodate differing calorific values of fuel. Quote
