Bigjeeze Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Do a search I've done it - it's tedious but not too difficult. You will need to remove both front seats as well as the exhaust shield - other than that it is quite straightforward. Quote
tomy Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Is that tongue in cheek I know you have to remove lots to work on anything on it but both front seats??????? Quote
Bigjeeze Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 No I am serious - Do a search - there are a few stories on this one. It is a 4 hour job - most of which is the removal of the seats, front carpet and the gear lever covers. The actual cable is fiddly but not too troublesome. Quote
familyman Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Yes defo go for taking out the ALL the seats it really does make it easier .The cable renewal itself is not such a bad job, just all the bits and pieces around it , trim , carpet to fold back , centre console to loosen , undertray , air feed hoses to the engine, aluminium heat shield that will be a sod to remove over the exhaust system, access to the gearbox to fit the new cables which can be a hard job, as trying to fit the ball joint ends of the cable on the the gearbox is hard because of the confined space ,it sounds a real hassle but if you allow plenty of time(a full day) and work methodically it can be done without a major drama,or you could just say sod it and get a garage to do it! tomy Posted December 28, 2007 Author Report Posted December 28, 2007 I am bitting the bullet and doing it myself as we are going away in it soon and my garage cant fit it in , I have ordered he cable it should arrive today and Ive started stripping out the interior , looks like my new years day is going to be spent in and under the car :) Quote
tomy Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007  well finaly finished relacing the selector cables , not really a hard job just very time consuming having to take out the front inerior of the car , but it was worth it , gear change is better than its ever been due to the fact of my cables have always been held on with cable ties from when I bought the car .
