Higs Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Apologies if this has been asked before (and I'm happy to be pointed to a FAQ or previous thread) but... Is it possible to switch the booster heater off using Vag-Com? I've had the Gal for about a year now but the booster heater didn't work at all last winter. I've just got Vag-Com and reset the error codes over the weekend. It's had one lengthy run with no problem but this morning Mrs Higs did a couple of shorter trips. When she pulled into a car park she had concerned citizens coming over to tell her it was on fire - it wasn't but apparently there was a lot of smoke. Assuming it doesn't settle down (and I can't be faffed with changing the glow-plug myself or afford to pay someone else to do it) can I just disable it? Quote
Beyond Help? Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Not with VAG-COM, no. But you can just unplug the temperature sensor, which is clipped to the wiper mechanism on the right hand side as you look at it under the bonnet. Quote
raymac Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 There is a wire connector block that plugs into the heater itself, mine was disconnected when i purchased it so i put in a new plug and re-connected and it's been sound ever since, as for changing the plug itself it's not a big job and if you have the right tools you will be looking at a couple of hours max, worth it at this time of the year ;) Quote
paj Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 I would like to disconnect the sensor as well. can anyone post a photo of exactly where it can be found? Quote
