I own a 1999 Galaxy 1.9Tdi Ghia X which has the Ford 2007 head unit and matching Autochanger installed. I am not entirely happy with the sound quality this gives with many music CD's sounding quite harsh. Also the Bass output is not great, especially through the front set of speakers.

I don't think the head unit is faulty, I just need a better quality one installed to improve things. I want to retain use of the remote control on the steering column and keep the existing autochanger unit if possible. What are my options?

I am also in a position to change standard stero and autochanger as the autochanger seems to have died. I believe that the auto changers are sony, and was lead to believe that for a replacement head unit to work with the remote you need a head unit that is capable with a 'smart lead' i think.

As a matter of intrest if any ony is selling the standard 6 disc autochanger that is compatiable with the 2007rds unit I may be intrested in buying ?????

The oe changer units were Visteon units, you can substitute these units for a sony unit try looking on a few car audio web sites for replacement cd changers

I removed my 2007 from my 99 GhiaX and replaced it with a JVC "stealth" unit. I couldn't link this to the remote stalk, but have since added a DAB tuner for the JVC and installed my 40Gb mStation MP3 under the passenger seat ... sounds great now!!!
