viking Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Can anyone confirm if the VTX75 manual gearbox as fitted to the Galaxy Mark 1 TDI is the same for the Sharan mark 1 TDI. The Audi derived diesel engine is shared by both manufactures. Gearbox code on the Sharan is ' DBW ' . The reason why I ask is that my local motor factors quoted automatic transmission oil for the Sharan/Alhambera and manual gearbox oil for the Galaxy. Quote
insider Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 All Mark I manual vehicles (Galaxy, Sharan and Alhambra) used the Ford VXT75 gearbox. The correct transmission oil is Ford spec. ESDM-2C186-A. Quote
big_kev Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Have you got a fluid leak, Viking ? Quote
viking Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks for the replies. When I checked the oil level I found it was roughly 3 to 4 mm below the oil fill hole. The car is 10 years old now so I wouldn't expect the level to be exactly the same as when it left the factory. There are no visible signs of a leak. The catalogue at the motor factors listed the same oil as used in the Ford MTX75 box (ESD-M2C 186A). 250cc's and it was full. If the oil grade is not right then I don't think that drop will hurt !!. Quote
