How Do You Identify Engine Code

Hi

I need to get a replacement Diesel Engine for my Mk1 Galaxy its a 2000 W' reg.

The engine number in log is XP60565.

 

Can anyone decifer this for me.

 

As the Breakers asked me to confirm the engine code & they said the engine number didn't mean anything to them.

They were looking for a 3 letter code like AUY, I've tried looking around under the bonnet but couldn't see nothing that made any sense.

 

Any help in this would be appreciated.

It should be written on the timing belt cover.

But the label on the timing cover has faded, whats left is not legible.

Surely there must be an alternative way of finding out the engine code?

I did read the other postings re: engine codes but couldn't find the info I needed, that is identifying the engine code either from the VIN or engine number quoted in the log book.

I'm after a replacement engine thats why I need it.

There may be a way of identifying the engine code from the VIN number so I've given that to someone to see if they can work it out for me.

A 2000 Mk I will be either AHU (90bhp) or AFN (110bhp). Do you know which engine you have?

What engine code does it have on the VIN plate ?

I think its a 110BHP,but not sure.

I'm not sure how to work out the Engine code from the VIN, Insiders trying to do that for me, when I give him the correct code, that is. :-)

Sorry, can't identify whether it's 90 or 110bhp from the VIN number. :angry2:

 

It should also be stamped on the front of the engine block though - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...st&p=118702

 

1 = engine code (1Z = 90bhp, AHU = 90bhp, AFN = 110bhp)

2 = engine number

Sorry I meant does it not have the engine code on the bottom of the VIN plate ( not the actual VIN number )
