andyhee Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Hi, my Galaxy Mk3 1.8tdci (6 Gears) is around 12 months old now, however recently I have been experiencing a smell of what on occasions appear to be exhaust fumes within the car whilst driving and on other occasions the smell is more like electrical burning?. I have had several people comment on these smell in the last few weeks and before I undoubtedly go and do battle with my main dealer I would like to ask if anyone else has had any similar experiences. Also just 1 other point is the other day I was towing my jet ski up the M5 and whilst doing so I good feel the vehicle slightly juddering at 60mph as if it was under strain and yet there is no real weight in the ski and it occurred whilst on flat motorway, anyone any ideas??? Thanks ! Quote
belleyetere Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 It could be a front brake sticking. The smell being drawn in the air intake. Quote
bullstein Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 I've just bought a 07 1.8 TDCi 2000k and an hour after driving away from Motorpoint, these stinking fumes came in the cabin through the air vents. It seemed to originate from somewhere near the passenger side of the engine. Stank out the new interior smell and it stayed around for all the next day. took it back for them to investigate, but at least they could smell it when I did. see what happens Quote
bluefluffybunny Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 I have a 56 reg ghia with 42K on the clock, i too smelt these smells, but they went away after a few kmiles.i also had the juddering at low rev's i put this down to not enough torque for the sheer wieght of the car. doesn't happen if you keep rev's above 2 krpm Quote

bigjohnboy Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 hi i was working on a mk3 1.8 tdci for vibration at low revs and burning smell cause turned out to be flywheel out of balance and new clutch assembly hope this is of some help. best of luck at your dealer Quote
Seatdriver Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Hi, Suspect DMF failure, mine's in for replacement including clutch(which showed signs of being very very hot at some time in its life. Symptom was shudddering at motorway speeds under slight load and occasionally when setting off uphill. The DMF will need to be checked and that means the dealer taking out the gearbox. Quote
dellybeanhead Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Dodgey flywheel and clutch. Mines just started to do the same. I can feel a vibration. Is this covered by the warranty or do they class a flywheel/clutch as wear and tear??? I bet I know the answer. Did they charge you VW driver? woudl you believe that the tried to cliam my heater break down was not covered as heating pipes are classed as "trim"!!!! Quote
bullstein Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I took my car to dealer with these fumes coming in and they diagnosed a leaking injector seal, which they are replacing under warranty Disappointing problem after 12000 miles Quote
bullstein Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Pseveryone should take their galaxy to ford dealer for PCM update, it has transformed my car, no power kag when taking off and therefore no excessive clutch burn accomodating this do it Quote
