The Ageless Stranger Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Hi all... I have a 2004 2.3 Ghia Automatic, and am looking for a towbar for pulling a small trailer (I couldn't afford the petrol to pull anything else)! I don't want to have the bumper cut unless it's absolutely necessary, and the car is fitted with rear parking sensors (which already have a fault). I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a fitter that was ideally reasonably cheap but also reputable - an oxymoron if ever there was one! :D I am in the Cheshire/Manchester area... Thanks in advance Rob Quote

The Ageless Stranger Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 I have...but I know I will make a pigs ear of it - I tend to be a bit slap-dash and don't really want to risk it to be honest Would rather shell out a bit more, and get the right one...I think, the thing that puts me off is removing the bumper  Quote

springen Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 I've always fitted my own - using Towsure mainly. Worth paying the extra for the customized electric wiring kit - no wire cutting needed, just 'plugs' in between existing wiring and rear lights - no problem. No hole drilling is required when fitting towbar - on Mk1 it replaces plastic bumper 'stuffing', on Mk2 it replaces metal bumper stuffing. Quote
wirral tourer Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Chester Tow Bar and Trailer Centre nr the Greyhound estate are v.good and reasonable price too. I think they fit Witter. Unfortunately, most require cutting the bumper but this is underneath the vehicle so not visible unless you get under the car. Quote
bofus Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 What is the current thinking on the best value removeable bar and do I go for a generic wiring kit or one from the stealers? cheersGav Quote

Beyond Help? Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) I had no problems fitting a TowSure Towbar & 12N electrics from Towequip to my MK1 Sharan. Took about an hour and a half and everything fitted perfectly. Edited August 27, 2008 by Beyond Help? Quote
oafcowl Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Hi, I used MDS Towbars, I think they are in Rochdale, The phone number is 01706 642302 also on the web if you type in MDS Towbars, they have an online quotation form. The beauty is they come to you, either to work or home and fit it! I think ours was around Quote
