Guest mrsiep Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 CAN ANY BODY TELL ME WAT A LAMBDA SENSOR IS,HAS MY 2LTR GOT 1 AND IF SO WEAR IS IT CHEERS SIE Quote
seatkid Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 The lambda sensor is used in engines with three-way catalytic converters to comply with or reach todays low statutory emission values for pollutants, and to optimize the performance of the engine and fuel consumption. It senses the oxygen content.Yes u got one, its screwed into your cat  and is connected by wires back to the ecu. Quote
Taliska Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 If you replace it, I've been told to make sure it's the manufacturer's one as it is supposed to be more specific than most people think. (Advice from a man who worked on them at Lucas!) I know that if you've not got a working one, the engine can work badly from experience with my wife's Seat Cordoba. Three lambda sensors later and the car works fine on cold mornings - plus it now drinks less fuel and gets through its MOT! Taliska Quote
