toratosaru Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Hi All, I'm a recently registered new member and the proud owner of a 2002 TDI. I have been investigating the options available for audio/satnav upgrades to my car and wondered if anybody out there had tried the following. The Mk II has a ' 1 and a bit DIN' stereo aperture in the centre console which normally houses a Ford CD6000 head unit. Can this aperture be enlarged to a full 2 DIN space ? I was wondering if there were any parts availble which would replace the normal silver coloured trim piece with one having a larger hole. Would welcome anyone's experience on this one, I'm told it is possible, but involves hand filing and plastic padding adaptation of the silver trim. Looking forward to any replies. Would like to fit a 2 DIN Pioneer Avic sat/nav type unit. Cheers Quote

mumof4 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 the 6006e is double din and slotted in fine in the 1.9 TDi MKII i had, there was no need to change anything. Quote
mk2vr6 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 yes it's possible without the use of a file, angle grinder and welding set! the method for doing the conversion and the part numbers are posted somewhere in the ICE section, good luck in your SEARCH  Quote
