Hi, if it's a Mark2 there are 6 fixings. 4 Bolts, 2 placed either side just in front of the wheel, and the others just behind. Then there are 2 nuts further back, near the centre either side of the exhaust.

Just make sure, when you put it back on, you put the front lip of the tray in properly, otherwise like me, you'll have to do it twice!

Hi

Is i a good idea to fit a new lambda sensor while i replace the front pipe ??? also anyone know how many wires the sensor has ?? where can i get 1 from ??

Thankyou

The lambda will most likely be seized in and will need a oxy-acetylene torch to remove it, so I would fit a new one. Universal ones are no good, you will want one that is specific to the car, make sure of this when you buy it, ask to make sure it is not a universal. If your pocket can stand it you can do no better than to buy it from Ford. If not try to get one from a factors such as Partco rather than a parts shop, your more likely not to get fobbed off with a universal one then. Edited by Beyond Help?

They have a branch in Kirkcaldy (Tel: (01592) 266171) and one in Dundee (Tel: (01382) 322041) They van parts out to local garages and dealers etc. Why not give them a call?

If you do it on ramps you get all the oil out of the sump as the sump plug is at the rear at an angle.

Cheers for that, i have one of those marine suction pumps and have used that a few times ,i recently read a review that said although it was a decent tool it could never get rid of all the old oil and what bit was left in would shorten the effectiveness of the new oil , so a proper draining it will get ;)

Ahh! A local Galaxy member - Have you tried Brammal Ford at Forth Avenue (01592 261199) in my hometown of Kirkcaldy, as you maybe aware, it's not far from where you are (maybe next time you're here doing your Xmas shopping!) Oh by the way if Beyond Help? is talking about the motor factors called 'Dingbro' then unfortunately you'll not get any parts unless you are trade. I have a very helpful local mechanic who can help if required.

No, I don't mean Dingbro. I said and mean Partco (the retail arm of Unipart who make the sensors Ford sell.) ;)

Whilst the oil left in will effect the life of the oil, you will never ever get all the oil out anyway as there will be some in the oil cooler and the head, turbo spindle bearings etc.

If you want to change the oil with the tray on you just need to back the rear of the car up the ramps a little then all the oil will be at the front of the sump where the dipstick hole is. That is how many majors do it, they don't touch the sump plug or under-tray, especially on PD engines where the filter is further up the engine.
