I have a Galaxy 1.9 Giesel Auto 115bhp. At around 40-55mph it shakes badly. When I take foot off the gas or put in neutral problem goes away. Has anybody had this or any advise on this? local garages are confused about it some say it's drive shaft and some say it's my gearbox. Not sure what to do.

If it's more of a wobble than a shake then the favourite culprit is dry CV joints, common problem not with just the Galaxy. Re-pack the CV joints with suitable grease and the problem normally goes away.

It could be drive shaft related but try the easy option first.

Yep, my money would be on an inner CV joint failing. They are a tripodic joint and can work whilst almost in bits, but when they fail, boy do they fail!

Put the car on ramps and take the under-tray off. Now try to shake the driveshafts where they go into the main body of the inner (gearbox) CV joint, if they move about more than a little then they are probably goosed.

Yep would agree there ....... freind of mine who works for VW warned me of the offside inner joint failing and also the shaft splines .... my inner CV boot had split and the joint was showing signs of wear already at 40K miles! ...... one reason I got shot of it.
