Guest yurir Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 On starters again. Unbelieveable ! For anyone who has been following this saga, the starter ring gear wore out finally. It had to be due to pinion-reing gear mismatch . Unfortunately, the drive plate is welded to the torque convertor, so had to get an exchange unit (only 6 moths warranty). And all that cost Quote
n.peckdd Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Hello Fellow starter suffers, I've been having start-up noises & running noises (in wet weather) on my 99 2.3 Ghia X for a while now. One noise a twitter from the Aux drive belt tensioner (wet noise) the other a squeal from the starter now & then. The tensioner was replaced when the bearing finally seized causing the plastic pulley to melt (designed that way so you cant just slip in a new bearing) the aux belt the goes loose and the power steering, charging etc all go down with it. Got the tensioner (because you cant just buy the pulley!! ) from CES for Quote
