Help Gal Stereo Wont Turn On(not The Fuse)

My stereo is the orginal that came with the car mk2 gal 2.3 ghia and it has a cd changer in the back...so sorry to be stupid but i dont understand cars at all :/

can some plz give me some idea of what it might be i would really apriciate it if u could help.

There are two fused feeds to the radio. One is permanent live and one is switched live.

 

Check both fuses, the one you checked is probably the permanent live. Sorry, don't know the fuse numbers off hand, perhaps someone else can help.

It could be the removable security plate (middle 4 radio memory buttons) I've had the same problem as has my wife with her focus (same head unit).

 

Press it in at the middle (not too hard) and see if it comes on.

I forgot to add, it might stay on when you pres the middle or you might need to remove it and clean the contacts, these things are prone to getting coffee in them!
