I have created a new MKIII forum, i have as yet to move all the topics out of the original section which i dumped in the new forum, so please bear with me for a while till its done.

 

It will in time expand to include other catagories, .

well done - I think you need to put MK3 in the title of the 'Technical section - Mk3', when using 'view new posts' it would read the same for the mk1/mk2 and mk3 will start getting mk1 answers to mk3 questions

I personally think its unnecessary.

 

By seperating the classes of vehicle you are lessening the chances of people with common knowledge of all the variants seeing all the posts unless they specifically browse all the areas of the site. Less of a problem now, but as the MK3 becomes more prevalent then owners will tend to look in their "areas" of the site, or those that specifically interest them at the expense of others.

 

A theoretical scenario could be-

 

A Mk3 owner who has had earlier Galaxies sticking to the areas of the site that cover the MK3 only as those are the areas that interest him. and as a result misses the opportunity to answer the call for help from a Mk1/2 owner who has had a problem that the Mk3 owner has previously dealt with and would have been able to offer assistance with.

 

IMO you are spreading the site out way too much.

I think it is a good idea as there is a huge amount of information and it is getting harder to find the posts you require especially via searching.

 

As more and more of the MK3's start to appear this part of the forum will grow and at the same time the older galaxy forums will shrink, eventually to be archived.

 

Spreading the topics out will enable a much more user friendly structure.

 

Most users just seem to click on "view new posts" which will bring up both the older galaxies and the Mk3's topics.

 

Similar arguments could be made for people who previous owned Citroens or Renaults they would not be able to help these if they only looked in the Galaxy section.

 

Also is their any similarities between the MK3 and the older galaxys / Sharans/ Alhambras ?

It was requested by a few of the MKIII owners if this could be done.I consulted with the other mods and it was agreed it should go ahead . If we find what you say happens then it can be integrated back into the rest of the forum.

 

I have faith that owners of all or a couple of the varients will cover the whole of the forum like i do.I just click on view new posts then all new posts from all sections will appear.

 

Any changes i make can be undone.I am not trying to seperate the MKIII owners from the other varients, just give them a section where they can see what is going on with a still relatively new vehicle, where all the problems they are having are in one place without having to search the thousands of other threads to do with the othe MKs.

 

I thought i was helping them .

 

im off to bed as i really dont feel well at all.will deal with all this in the morning when my head is hopefully back to normal.

Surely now that you have seperated the Mk3 from 1 & 2, you now have to move the Customising your car, caravan and touring & dealer service and reliability sections to the "general Area" or are these areas specific to the earlier models but not the Mk3?
